Programmed by student Marko Wickrath in association with the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany & University of Manitoba, Canada. This robot isn’t just demonstrating a remarkable amount of coordinated and reproducible agility, in fact, the robot hasn’t been given a set piece of instructions on which step it should take next. It’s actually deciding autonomously where to place each hand and foot based on an image of the wall from an external camera and what the robot knows about its own capabilities. It therefore almost “thinks” and knows its limits, weighs out pros and cons before taking any further action.
